The El-Rufai committee set up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the agitations for the restructuring of the country will today submit its final report.


The committee was set up in July last year.

The event will hold at the national secretariat of the APC.

Chairman of the committee and Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, will present the report to the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

Members are: Governors of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Plateau State, Simon Lalong, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, former Governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor and APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso

Other members are APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi and Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi (Secretary).

Oyegun recently defended the party’s position on the matter.

At the Catholic Bishops Conference taking place in Jalingo, Taraba State said, he said: “APC has responded to the agitations for structural reforms of the country’s political architecture and to structure the debate for the benefit of the sustained unity, peace and progress of the country by constituting a broad-based committee to provide a framework that will guide the process.”

He added that the recommendations of the committee would be reviewed by the party organs and a framework for the implementation of the accepted report would be presented to government.
