Governors of the South-Eastern states, on Friday, met in Enugu to deliberate on arrangements for the burial of the Second Republic Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
The elder statesman is to be buried on February 2, 2018.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, said the governors were committed to the success of the burial.
“Our presence at this meeting underscores the seriousness the governors have attached to this important burial of our father, the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, ” Umahi said.
Apart from Umahi, the governors of Enugu State (Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi), Abia State (Okezie Ikpeazu) and Anambra State (Willie Obiano), were also at the meeting.
Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was represented by his deputy, Eze Madumere.
Umahi explained that Okorocha was “out of the South-East” and could not attend the meeting in person.
According to Umahi, the governors studied the budget for the burial of the elder statesman at the meeting.
