A former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, on Monday raised the alarm that if not addressed, growing violence and hate speeches will have an adverse effect on the 2019 general elections.
He said this in a lecture titled “Peace building and good governance for sustainable development in Nigeria” he delivered to mark the 2018 Democracy Day in Abuja.
Other threats to the election, according to Jega are the delay in the passage of the electoral framework for the coming election and lack of internal democracy among political parties.
