Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra South district in next month ’ s election, Chris Uba , has said that it is mandatory for the zone to produce the next governor of the state .
Uba stated this on Friday during a town hall meeting with people from the seven local government areas that make up the senatorial district .
He said the district had been marginalised over the years by successive administrations in the state .
Anambra South senatorial district is made up of Aguata , Orumba North , Orumba South, Nnewi North , Nnewi South , Ekwusigo and Ihiala local government areas .
The last time the district produced a governor was in 2007 when Andy Uba served for only 17 days before he was sacked by the Supreme Court .
Speaking during the town hall meeting , Uba said one of his reasons for seeking a seat in the Senate was to give a voice to the people of the district .
He said , “ I ’ m in this race to rescue my people, correct some misdeeds and impunity against our people .
“ I ’ m contesting this seat in anger because those who have been representing our people have failed in their duties .
“ I ’ m ready for this fight and ready to give my constituents what they have lacked in many years . ”
Also speaking, Chairman of the PDP in Ihiala , Mr Sam Anyakora , said the district had unanimously endorsed Uba for February’ s election because of the good things he had done for the zone over the years .
