Bayern Munich have confirmed Robert Lewandowski will not join up with the Poland national team, for their game against England on March 31.
With COVID-19 still raging across Europe, Bundesliga players would be forced to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival back in Germany from a “mutation zone,” country.
Bayern’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, says Lewandowski cannot travel to the UK due to these quarantine measures.
Speaking to German outlet Sport-Informations-Dienst, Salihamidzic said: “If it remains the case that the returnees from England have to go into quarantine, we will not be able to put Lewandowski down.”
Despite being forced to miss out against England, Lewandowski will be available for Poland when they face Andorra and Hungary during the international break.
The 32-year-old has scored 39 goals from 35 appearances in all competitions this season.
