Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has delivered his verdict on Timo Werner and Kepa Arrizabalaga following their performances in his side’s Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 4-3 on penalties in the Carabao Cup following a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Werner had scored the only goal for Chelsea during normal time, while Kepa pulled off a number of good saves in the match, including a big one to help Chelsea win the shootout against Aston Villa.
“We brought him into a situation where he can score, this is what we want, and then it’s on him to score. That’s why he is here. It’s the best feeling for a striker to score,” Tuchel told Chelsea’s website.
“Kepa is very strong at penalties. He has good experiences in shoot-outs so we focused on that, and tried our best.
“I’m happy the players kept their cool. It’s a nice win and I’m happy because it was a tough match, a hard cup fight, and it’s a good feeling to win.”
Chelsea will now face Southampton in the Carabao Cup third round tie.
