Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker and sports lover has revealed why the Nigerian football authorities cannot sack Super Eagles’ Franco-German coach, Gernot Rohr.
According to him, due to the $2 million compensation clause included in his contract, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, led by President Amaju Pinnick would find it difficult to sack the former Burkina Faso coach.
Nigeria walked a tight robe to qualify for the final stage of Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers losing 1-0 to the Central African Republic and drawing 1-1 with Cape Verde all in Lagos.
Now, the team has the upheaval task of overcoming Egypt, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, and other top teams to book a place at the event.
Going by the team’s performance in recent games, many pundits have called for the sack of Rohr and the social media space was agog yesterday stirred by the fake news that the German has been dismissed.
While many believe that Rohr cannot take Nigeria to the World Cup for obvious reasons, Shehu Sani has made it clear that Rohr cannot be sacked.
“It’s impossible to sack the Super Eagles Coach Rohr even if he underperformed because of the $2million compensation clause foolishly inserted into the contract agreement.
“We are stuck with him,” the former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna central senatorial district at the 8th Assembly, tweeted.
