The management of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, has described as unfortunate the death of Adegoke Timothy Oludare, a student of the institution’s Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA) programme who was reported missing on November 7, 2021.
This is as the school management has pledged its commitment to work with the law enforcement agents to unravel the circumstances leading to the death of Adegoke.
This was made known in a press release signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
The release stated that the Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede who expressed sadness over the incident appreciated the prompt action and painstaking investigation of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police, which eventually led to the discovery of his corpse.
Ogunbodede who recognised the tenacity and doggedness of the late Adegoke’s wife which assisted, in no small measures, in unravelling the circumstances of her husband’s movement in Ile Ife asked the family, friends and colleagues to take solace in the fact that the deceased left positive footprints and impacted numerous lives.
While sympathising with the family, the Vice Chancellor who prayed that God should grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, reminded that death was a necessary end that will come when it will come.
The Osun Command of the Nigeria Police had on Monday disclosed that Adegoke who was declared missing on November 7 was dead and his corpse has been found.
The Command Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola did not, however, disclose how he died or where his corpse was found but explained that it was working hard to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
Six persons have, however, been arrested in connection with the case while investigation is ongoing.
Adegoke was an Abuja based student who travelled to Ife on November 5 to sit for an examination at the school’s Distance Learning Centre in Moro, Osun State.
He was declared missing two days later when friends and family members could neither reach his phone line nor find him at the exam venue.
