The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun State has declared that all its aspirants in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State are eminently qualified to govern the State.
The Osun PDP through its Director of Media, Olabamiji Oladele, who made this known on Saturday while talking with Journalists in Osogbo, also maintained that all internal crisis that had rocked the party in the past had been settled.
Oladele, who revealed that the PDP was on a mission to wrest power from and rescue the state from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022, added that the number of interested aspirants in the party’s forthcoming primaries was growing.
The Osun PDP spokesperson also stated that peace was now reigning in the party as every member was now on the same page.
“Our party is well prepared to provide good governance. We cannot afford to continue like this.
“As things stand today, no reasonable being will be happy that APC should continue ruling us. Can’t you see the hardship everywhere?” He queried.
He disclosed that six interested aspirants have bought the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms so far.
In his words, “As of this morning, six individuals have obtained nomination forms. They are Senator Ademola Adeleke, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Sanya Omirin, Prince Dotun Babayemi and Bamidele Adeleke.
“If you look at the caliber of individuals that have obtained the forms, you will agree with me that they are qualified individuals. They are not here to further help the failed APC to continue maltreating our people.”
Recall that on Friday, Dele Adeleke, a nephew to Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, a favourite candidate for the gubernatorial polls purchased his expression of interest and nomination forms at the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja.
This move, political watchers in the State predict, is a calculated move by some hands that are outside the State to truncate the ambition of the senior Adeleke.
They reason that opposition within and outside the party, especially the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, may be behind the recent move.
As at press time, neither Dele Adeleke nor the Oyo State Governor has come out to debunk or accept the statement.
