Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick has added six new young players to his side’s squad ahead of their Champions League tie with Young Boys on Wednesday night.

Manchester Evening News reports that the six Manchester United academy prospects are in contention to make their debut against Young Boys in the Champions League tonight.

The players are defender Bjorn Hardley, midfielders Charlie Wellens, Sam Mather, Charlie Savage, and Zidane Iqbal and forward Shola Shoretire.

The Man United Under-19s have already qualified for the knockout stage of the UEFA Youth League, so they could start against Young Boys at Leigh Sports Village.

Savage, 18, is the son of Man United academy graduate, Robbie Savage, while Mather, 17, turned professional earlier this year.

Shoretire, 17, made his Man United debut against Newcastle in February. He became the club’s youngest ever debutant in European competition after he featured in their goalless Europa League draw against Real Sociedad in February this year.

Dutchman Hardley, 18, has trained with the first-team this season, while Wellens, 19, was called up to first-team training in September 2019.

Iqbal, 18, is already regarded as a trailblazer for the Asian community in professional football after he signed his first professional contract at Man United in April this year.
