Chief of Army Staff,COAS, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, weekend, blamed the recent attack on Sector 1 of 27 Task Force Brigade located in Gaidem, Yobe State on the attitude of troops towards the ongoing war, calling on the need for a review of the troops attitude.

Though the attack was reported to have been repelled by the troops, during which several terrorists were killed and their weapons destroyed, three soldiers also lost their lives.

Addressing soldiers and officers during his maiden tour of units and commands under the 81 Division of the Army, in Lagos, Buratai said despite sophisticated weapons and equipment at the disposal of troops in Giadem to protect themselves as well as civilians , they did not attack the insurgents.

He said: “Two, three days back, I was in Geidam and the attitude of our troops call for serious review because they have the equipment, weapons, everything they require to protect themselves and indeed citizens that are there, the whole community and villages around.

“But, they just went and sat down without adopting the proper battle procedures. These are the attitudes we have been suffering all these while.”
