Final year poly student murdered in Imo
The corpse of a 24-year-old final year civil engineering student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, Innocent Ndukwe, has been discovered near Owerri, the state capital.
Ndukwe, 24, was found in his pool of blood in a toilet at his residence at 18 Enuwa Street, Egbu, Owerri North Local Government Area.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, confirmed the development to journalists on Friday.
Ndukwe had been killed on November 17, 2015.
Three suspects – David Kwaguru, 30; Friday Ayuba, 28; and Francis Amos, 23, had been arrested in connection to the incident .
Lakanu said Kwaguru, who was Ndukwe’s guard, was alleged to have connived with the two other suspects to kill the victim, who was said to have hailed from a rich family.
After killing Ndukwe, the suspects were alleged to have dispossessed him of his Sports Utility Vehicle with registration number Lagos KRD 109 BP, two TV sets and other belongings.
The police official said the suspects were arrested by policemen while they were trying to escape through the Owerri West End Road.
Lakanu said, “Soon after getting credible information about the heinous act, the police control room quickly alerted operations of the command and they immediately searched the entire state.
“As a result, the assailants, who tried to escape the eagle-eyed operatives, were subsequently apprehended on West End-Old Nekede Road, Owerri.”
