The Nigerian Army has said that troops and policemen have arrested two of the 100 most wanted Boko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in an electronic mail on Wednesday that the troops arrested one of the suspects, Abbakar Sadiq, listed as number 28 among the 100 wanted Boko Hatam terrorists released by the Army last month, along Lagos Street, Maiduguri.
He said the terror suspect, worked as a night guard to one Mohammed Daggash prior to his arrest.
Usman stated also that the police arrested another of the wanted terror kingpins Identified as Muhammad Usman at the Abuja, Talakawa Ward of the Maiduguri metropolis.
He said the suspect whose photograph matched suspect number 40 on the lists was picked up after a painstaking process of investigation and tracking by the police.
He said, “In another unprecedented development yesterday, troops of 101 Task Force Battalion, 7 Division Garrison, along Lagos Street Maiduguri, Borno State, arrested yet another declared wanted Boko Haram terrorists’ leader.
“The suspect who gave his name as Abubakar Sadiq, worked as a night watchman to one Muhammad Daggash. A closer look at him shows that he was suspect number 28 among the suspected Boko Haram terrorists that were declared wanted by the Nigerian Army last month.
“In a related development, the Nigeria Police, Borno State Command, arrested yet another suspected Boko Haram kingpin, Mohammed Usman, at Abuja Talakawa Ward of Maiduguri metropolis, Borno state yesterday.
“The suspect who matches the photograph of suspect Number 40 on the poster containing the photographs of the 100 wanted suspected Boko Haraam terrorists, was arrested after painstaking effort and tracking by the police.”
