Ooni moves to Obatala shrine for five days
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has moved to Obatala shrine at Ilofi for some rites.
It was gathered that Ogunwusi, who moved there yesterday as part of his pre-installation rites, will remain there for five days.
A source said the last days of his worship at the Obatala shrine would be marked with the celebration of a bean festival.
The Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Oba Adekunle Abdul Mahroof Magbagbeola, said the rites would not end without the sacrificial worship of Obatala.
The traditional ruler also said “being the first son of Obatala, I must move to Ile-Ife to participate in the rites”.
The Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba James Adedokun Adegoke, Akunraledoye II, has congratulated Oba Ogunwusi.
Oba Adegoke said: “Our people delightfully express their joy, love and felicitation to Oba Ogunwusi and wish him not only a long, peaceful reign, but also a tenure in office as glorious and majestic as that of his predecessors.
“We also pray that God will grant the Ooni the wisdom of his ancestors to rule with justice and mercy, to uphold and promote the values, culture and progressive traditions of our Yoruba nation. And above all to work hard and unite our people.”
