Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-1 for the 2015 U23 AFCON crown at the Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.

Two goals from Oghenekaro Etebo in the first half was enough to hand Nigeria the title even though the Algerians got some sort of lifeline when Segun Oduduwa scored an own goal.

The Algerians moved closer to getting an equaliser but they were denied by the heroics of goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel who not only stopped a penalty kick but made other fantastic saves.

Both teams have already qualified for next year’s Rio Olympics by virtue of reaching the championship game. They were joined by South Africa, who defeated host, Senegal 3-1 via penalty in the Third Place match
