The Nigerian Army has announced its unanimous decision to tackle the agitation for Biafra which pose threat to peace,unity,progress and the survival of Nigeria as a single entity.

The army announced this in the communique they issued at the end of Chief of Army Staffs Annual Conference (COAS) between 6th-11th December at Manpower development Institute Dutse, Jigawa state.



According to the communique the army has resolve to re- strength it efforts in crushing and tackling security challenges militates the country such as Boko Haram insurgents, Niger Delta militancy and oil theft around Lagos and other South-west states.

The conference also adopted new strategies to tackle the activities of these groups in order to create the conducive environment for peace and economic development in Nigeria.

According to the communique, the Nigerian Army noted the gains made in its fight against insurgency in the north-east and strengthened its resolve to continue its offensive against insurgents,with a view to defeat them and restoring state authority, peace and stability within all part of the north-east.

The conference under theme ‘contemporary conflicts,human right and military operation’ noted that the need to articulates measures to constantly engage relevant stakeholders on all issues of human rights and civil military relationship.

Nigerian Army also during the meeting identified the available capacity in Nigeria with local companies that can produce some of its equipments as well as resolved to institutionalize French language as an alternative language to use between Nigeria and her contiguous francaphone neighbours.

The conference then appreciated the president Muhammad Buhari for his continued support to Nigerian Army in its effort to tackle the myriad of security challenges in Nigeria.

They how ever express their appreciation to Jigawa state for hosting them and also creating enabling environment which give them successful delivaration during the meeting.
