Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo, featured for 90 minutes while Victor Moses was introduced in the second half as Chelsea came from a goal down to beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Saturday.


Goals from Michy Batshuayi and Diego Costa gave Chelsea their second win of the season.

Etienne Capoue gave Watford the lead, his second goal of the season.

The game’s first chance fell to Watford in the seventh minute through Jose Holebas but his low shot was well saved by Thibaut Courtois.

In the 11th minute Eden Hazard went close for Chelsea only to see his effort turned away for a corner by Miguel Britos.

Odion Ighalo had Watford’s best chance of the half on 24 minutes following a cross from Amrabat but missed from close range.

Two minutes later Brasnislav Ivanovic met Hazard’s free-kick which was saved by Hureleo Gomes.

And one minute into added time, Hazard’s 20-yard free-kick beat Watford’s two-man wall but was stopped by Gomes.

The first chance of the second half fell to Chelsea on 52nd minute but Costa couldn’t connect with Oscar’s cross.

In the 55th minute, Capoue put Watford 1-0 ahead as he chests a cross from the right and volleyed a left-foot strike into the top corner.

Hazard almost responded for Chelsea on 58 minutes, but his shot was saved by Gomes.

Chelsea made their first change with Moses replacing Pedro in the 71st minute.

Two minutes later Michy Batshuayi was introduced for Oscar.

In the 80th minute Batshuayi equalised for Chelsea tapping in from six-yard after Gomes spilled Hazard’s shot.

Chelsea went close to snatching the lead on 85 minutes off a scramble but Gomes gathered.

But with three minutes left, Costa scored the winning goal, collecting a long pass from substitute Fabrega before slotting the ball under Gomes.

And at White Hart Lane new signing Victor Wanyama was the saviour as he scored the only goal as Tottenham hotspur pipped Crystal Palace 1-0.

The former Southampton midfielder netted in the 83rd minute off kanes’ assist to give Spurs the win.

It was Spurs’ first victory of the season after drawing 1-1 away to Everton in the opening day of the campaign.
