We’re intensifying surveillance to locate missing girls – Air Chief
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubkar, has said that the Air Force is intensifying surveillance flights on a daily basis in search for the missing Chibok girls.
Abubakar stated this shortly after the inauguration of the third Alpha jet which was weaponised by a team of local engineers assembled by NAF at the 99 Air Combat Training Group, Kainji, Niger State, on Friday.
He said the aircraft was acquired without the requisite equipment for combat mission and was efficiently weaponised for combat operation by the team of local engineers and deployed immediately for the ongoing operation in the North-East.
Abubakar, who also commented on the planned operation to protect oil installations in the Niger Delta, stated that NAF would soon launch a major operation in the area with the Alpha jets and other platforms.
He added that efforts were being made to acquire additional platforms for the operation.
He said, “We intend to organise a major exercise in the South-South very soon using this alpha jets and other assets.
“That is right, we are working round the clock to ensure that we put together what is required so that we could achieve the best of the exercise.
“That is not to say that we don’t have platforms right now in the South-South. We still have the Alpha jets flying there now and the ones that are monitoring our gas and oil infrastructure on daily basis to make sure that we keep a close watch on what is going on there.”
