The Kaduna State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria on Friday called on all Nigerians of goodwill to help promote peace.
Secretary of the association in the state, Rev. Sunday Ibrahim, made the appeal in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna over recent events in the eastern parts of the country.
He said Nigerians must be cautious in their utterances and actions and shun warmongers pushing for the break-up of the country.
“Nigeria needs prayers. Today’s Nigeria is not that of yesterday, and those calling for war have no sense of history and its destabilising consequences.
“We must be calm and approach issues with decorum and responsibility. Nigerians from all divides must live in peace, because without peace, nothing will function and we won’t want that to happen.’’
The CAN secretary called on the Federal Government to engage in discussions with all agitators so as to find peaceful solutions to all areas of contentions.
“We should not allow our sense of reasoning to be overtaken by emotions. Peace is the key to the survival of the nation.
“The youths as future leaders must champion peaceful coexistence, where every Nigerian will pursue their dreams anywhere in the country without hindrance,’’ Ibrahim added.
