Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has blasted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for arresting Toyin Ojo, the Ekiti Commissioner of Finance and the Accountant-General.
According to Fani-Kayode, Ojo was picked up while Governor Ayodele Fayose was declaring his intention to run for presidency on Thursday.
He tweeted: “@GovAyoFayose declares his intention to run for the Presidency today and whilst he was in the hall doing so the security agencies arrested the Commissioner of Finance and Acc. Gen. of his state. Such pettiness!”
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the government officials were arrested, following their refusal to honour the commission’s invitation.
“They are currently in the custody of the EFCC. They were picked up today following their refusal to honour previous invitations for interrogation in relation to pending investigation on the misuse of bailout funds by the Ayodele Fayose administration,” Uwujaren said in a statement.
