The National Union of Rivers State Students, NURSS, has issued one-week ultimatum to the State government to commerce payment of bursary to its members.

The leadership of NURSS is also demanding that Governor Nyesom Wike should immediately appoint a Special Adviser on Students’ Affairs.

The students’ body believes that the appointment of a students’ adviser to the Governor would enable them interact effectively with the state government.

Additionally, NURSS is also demanding monthly subvention from the Rivers State Government to be able to run its programmes.

The positions were contained in a communiqué that was adopted at the end of NURSS Congress held in Port Harcourt.

Reading the communiqué before newsmen, NURSS President, Patrick Ogbuehi said Rivers State students also want the House of Assembly to commence the process of passing into law a welfare bill for students.

The NURS President warned that, “failure to respond to their demands, the state government should be ready to face Aluta wrath from the students.”

The NURSS communiqué was signed by leaders of the Rivers State students in various tertiary institutions.
