Barcelona has an “agreement in place” to sign Sergio Aguero from Manchester City on a free transfer.
According to AS, a deal is understood to be “very close”.
New Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, has agreed to sanction a two-year contract for Aguero, which will run until June 2023.
Aguero’s contract at the Etihad expires this summer, meaning clubs outside England could start negotiating with the player from January.
It is believed the only reason the contract has not been signed, is because although Laporta is due to become president, Carles Tusquets is in interim charge.
Barca has already snapped up promising Man City centre half Eric Garcia, 20, on a five-year contract, also a free transfer.
