Brad was incredibly supportive during Angelina's surgeries
In a rare joint interview Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have opened about their strong marriage, her choice to have surgery and their new film By The Sea. The couple sat down on the Today show to speak candidly about their family and proved that their bond is stronger than ever.
Two years ago The UNICEF ambassador underwent a double mastectomy after testing positive for a hereditary gene that gave her 87% risk of getting breast cancer. The 40-year-old actress decided she would undergo the risky surgical procedures to avoid developing the disease that killed her mother.
Recently the Tomb Raider actress also underwent an operation to remove her ovaries due to a similar increased risk of her getting ovarian cancer.
Bravely speaking about her choice to undergo preventative surgeries the actress said: "I knew through the surgeries that he was on my side and that this wasn't something where I was going to feel less of a woman, because my husband wasn't going to let that happen."
Her husband of a year added: "Whatever's got to be done to keep the family together, and keep the family together as long as possible is going to be done. This was her charge, no question. It's a scary decision. There's many things that can go wrong and go many different directions."
The couple sat down in a rare joint interview to discuss their latest film By The Sea
Discussing their latest movie, in which they both star, the couple said their relationship could not be more different from their deeply troubled characters Roland and Vanessa's.
"I'm counting on the audience to know that if it was close to us at all, we could never make this film," said Angelina, adding: "It's because we're actually very, very stable and these aren't our issues."
