A 40-year-old man, Sunday Arowolo, was yesterday charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court for alleged forgery and stealing of an unregistered car valued at N2.5 million.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a three count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and stealing preferred against him by the police.



The prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Molo, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences in July 7, 2014.

He said the incident took place at 25, Ayo Ajileye Street, Ori-Okuta area of Ikorodu at about 10am.

Molo alleged that the defendant and others who are still at large stole a Toyota Matrix belonging to one Mrs Ifeyinwa Anueyiagu, which is valued at N2.5million.

The prosecutor further stated that the defendant sold the car after forging its documents, noting that the offences committed are punishable under sections 409, 285 (10) and 363 of the criminal law of Lagos state 2011.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him when the charge was read.

However, Magistrate P. A Adekomaya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000, with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till January 19, for mention.
