Abductors of Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government, Serefina Otazi, have demanded N40million ransom to release her, family sources said on Tuesday.

Otazi was kidnapped on December 20 in Otuoke, Ogbia local government area of the state, on her way to Ewoi community for a funeral.

A member of the family, Mr. Endurance Frank, said the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded a ransom to free their victim.

Frank said for the first time, Otazi’s captors established contact with the family since her abduction.

He said they were at least relieved to hear from the commissioner.

He said the family appealed to the kidnappers to free her unconditionally.
