2018 FIFA WCQ: Zambia shall not be free — Mikel
Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel said it is important Nigeria beat Zambia in Uyo and cement their qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
After beating Algeria back-to-back, Zambia are burning with the desire to clinch the group B ticket and make their debut appearance at the World Cup. The Super Eagles are currently leading the table with 10 points.
Zambia have seven points and they visit Uyo on October 7 to keep a date with Super Eagles. Mikel said in an interview that the Super Eagles will redouble their efforts to ensure that the young Zambians are kept in check. “We have to play with one mindset, irrespective of the opponents. The Zambian match will not be an exception. We are going to give it our all and make sure we collect all maximum points and seal our qualification to Russia,”Mikel said.
He said that the Super Eagles will not make the mistake of underrating the Zambian team and he was hopeful all members of the Super Eagles will be fully fit and ready to give it all to silence the Chipolopolo. “Zambia are no push over from what we have seen. We have to be fully prepared for it.
“Hopefully, the guys can stay fit for us to have a complete squad because we don’t want a situation where we rue the absence of our best players. We want to take our destiny in our own hands and avoid unnecessary permutations,” Mikel added.
