NYSC debunks killing of 10 corps members at INEC office
The Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Bauchi State, Afolayan James, has described as false, malicious and misleading, the rumour making the rounds on social media that 10 corps members died in front of the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in the state.
He was reacting to a post on Instagram by a corps member serving in Bauchi who alleged that 10 of his colleagues had died while waiting at the INEC office to be posted to their stations as ad hoc staff during the postponed elections.
The corps member, whose identity could not be ascertained as of press time, alleged that his colleagues were waiting to collect sensitive materials for the various places they would be posted to, when a vehicle lost control and rammed into them.
Reacting to the post, Afolayan said, “Nothing like that happened and you know these days, people just cook up stories and post online to mislead and misinform the public. There is no truth in the story that 10 corps members died at the INEC headquarters in Bauchi.”
