Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has advised Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu after she booked her place in the final of the women’s wrestling event at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan.
It was gathered that Oborududu defeated Battsetseg Soronzobold of Mongolia 7-2 on Monday to reach the final of the 68kg gold medal contest.
Oborududu will now face Americans Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the final.
The 32-year-old had defeated Azerbaijani’s Elis Manolova and Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan to advance to her first Olympic semi-finals.
Her qualification guarantees Team Nigeria a silver or gold medal at Tokyo Olympics.
Reacting to the development, Atiku, in a tweet via his Twitter handle advised Oborududu, to be bold when she clashes with Mensah-Stock.
He tweeted, “Blessing Oborududu’s semi-final 68kg wrestling victory is a thing of joy and pride to Nigeria.
“The nation is behind you, Blessing, and the Gold Medal is within reach. We are rooting for you as you wear the Nigerian colours. Be bold as you go for gold. May God grant you victory. #OlympicGames.”
