The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission not to recognise Ahmed Gulak as the national chairman of the party.

National Legal Adviser of the party, Mr. Victor Kwon, made the appeal in his letter to the commission.

Kwon was replying to an earlier letter sent to the electoral body by Gulak, in which he informed the commission about the court judgement that sacked the Acting National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.

Gulak also informed the commission that since the party refused to abide by the judgement which ordered the party to pick someone from the North-East within 14 days after the judgement to which he said the party was unable to abide by, he had assumed office as the substantive chairman of the party.

The judgment, which ordered Secondus to revert to his position as the deputy national chairman was given by a Federal High Court on the 16th day of December, 2015.

Deputy Director of the commission in charge of publicity, Mr. Nick Dazang, told, our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday, that the commission has received letters from both Gulak and Kwon.
