Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop giving unnecessary excuses and justify the mandate Nigerians gave the party.
He made this call yesterday, while flagging off the dredging/sand filling of Abalama in Asari-Toru and Bakana in Degema local government areas of the state.
Governor Wike said that the Rivers State government was redefining politics in Nigeria by ensuring that campaign promises were kept.
He said at the separate flag off of the land reclamation projects: “We are redefining the pattern of politics in Nigeria. You cannot use people and dump them. We cannot give everyone money, but we can execute projects that everybody will benefit from.”
Speaking on the failure of the APC Federal Government to live up to the expectation of Nigerians, he said: “We are not like those who said they will make one naira to equal one dollar. Instead of actualising their promise, they are busy giving excuses”.
The governor urged the APC Federal Government to settle down and focus on fulfilling the several promises they made to Nigerians.
He said that the APC got the mandate on the strength of its promises to Nigerians, saying that it was uncharitable for the APC government to blame previous government, when it should be working.
The governor said the dredging, stand filing and reclamation projects, which run through the three Kalabari local government areas, would entrench development in the area.
He announced that the sum of N500 million had been released to complete the Degema General Hospital, pointing out that he would liaise with the Commissioner of Police to build a police station in the community to forestall insecurity.
