Fayose’s claim to budget transparency fraudulent —Ekiti APC
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has reacted to the press statement by Governor Ayodele Fayose’s media aide, Idowu Adelusi, claiming credit for Governor Fayose for the budget transparency award by the Civil Resource Development Documentation Centre, CIRDDOC, a civil society organisation that tracks budget planning and implementation among state governments across the nation last year.
Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said in a statement that it was regrettable that Governor Fayose was fraudulently laying claim to the feat achieved by his predecessor, former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
He said Fayose was abusing the tenet of what CIRDDOC sought to achieve in its transparency test, noting that what the governor did was nothing but a fraud on the organisation and Nigerians in general.
He said: “We are shocked that Fayose has taken his fraudulent practice beyond the corners of his government to defraud other organisations carrying out what would have helped to check fraud in the country.
“Let us thank God that CIRDDOC stated clearly in its report that it obtained its data between July and December 2014. The result was the outcome of budget planning and implementation for 2014. Fayose did not prepare that budget.
“The budget for the period between July and December 2014 was prepared by Fayemi who ran the budget from January till October 2014 before Fayose took over as governor.
“Fayemi visited all the 177 towns and villages in 2013 to seek people’s inputs into the 2014 budget. It was the people who chose the projects they wanted in the budget and Fayemi did it faithfully. The result is what CIRDDOC released to the public praising Ekiti State for budget transparency and we wonder why a man noted for direct opposite of what Fayemi is noted for is now the one claiming credit for Fayemi’s achievement.”
He expressed surprise at the eulogy of Fayose by Chief Afe Babalola, saying he expected the respected elder statesman to give honour to whom it is due instead of endorsing a behaviour that was clearly a fraud.
Wants AGF, to prosecute Ekiti poll fraud
Also, the APC in Ekiti State has called on the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to prosecute suspects in the June 21, 2014 governorship election fraud in Ekiti State as captured in an audio tape secretly recorded by Captain Sagir Koli.
The party stated that its latest action was informed by failure of the office of the Minister of Justice to act on its earlier petition of February 13, 2015 demanding probe into the audio tape detailing acts of treason by some PDP leaders in collaboration with some military officers to cause a change of government in Ekit State through means other than as prescribed by the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
