Residents of Totowu, a riverine community in Ishuti area of Igando in Lagos have continued to flee the area following the invasion, abductions and reckless killings by suspected Niger Delta militants.
A fresh attack was said to have occurred in the area, yesterday, leading to a gun duel between suspected Niger Delta militants and the military team deployed to the area. Two yet to be identified persons were abducted by militants.
A member of the military team who preferred anonymity for security reasons, confirmed the attack, saying the militants came through one of the river terminus at about 7 am. The gun battle was said to have lasted several hours.
