Russia has applauded efforts by the Federal Government towards ending the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.


The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nigeria, Mr Nikolay Udovichenko stated this during the commemoration of the end of World War II in Abuja.

On May 7, 1945, Germany signed an unconditional surrender at Allied headquarters in Reims, France, ending the European conflict of World War II. The envoy said the event underscores the need for providing peace and security in the world.

“We applaud the efforts of the Nigerian government in combatting terrorism and the results in very positive.  Nigeria, with the support of international community, would overcome this challenge.

“We need to remember at all times that we need a world without violence,” he said.
