Aisha Buhari will be joining millions of Muslims to participate in this year’s hajj pilgrimage.
The wife of President Buhari, on Monday departed Abuja for Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Her spokeswoman, Zaynab Ikaz- Kassim said via Twitter, “This Afternoon H.E Mrs. @aishambuhari left Abuja for Mecca, Saudi Arabia to join millions of Muslims in performing this year’s Hajj.”
Earlier this month, Aisha returned from London where she went to visit her husband who was on his second medical vacation this year.
“I am grateful to Nigerians & well wishers all over the world for their continuous prayers,” Aisha said following her husband’s arrival.
No fewer than 1.705 million pilgrims, which include over 91,000 Nigerians, have arrived the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj, according to Statistics released by the Directorate General of Passports.
About 1.602 million pilgrims came by air, 87,685 by land and 14,835 by sea.
