Lagos state through the Office of the Special Adviser Education has re-launched the Ipaja Public Library. The re-commissioning event took place on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015.

The Library was re-commissioned by Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule.

The Library was initially opened in 1995 to serve the learning needs of the dwellers of Ipaja environs.

However, on visiting the premises of the library earlier in the year, The Special Adviser on Education to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh observed that the library was in need of an upgrade and made a commitment to turn things around.

The renovation and upgrade of the library commenced in November 2015 and was targeted to be completed in three (3) weeks. This was achieved as promised.

After the re-commissioning, the library will be opened to better serve the society at large. Students as well as other professionals can now study in a conducive environment. The reading culture of Lagosians will greatly improve.

This is to demonstrate the commitment of the government in promoting literacy, reviving the dying reading culture in the country & making Lagos public facilities work for all.
