Nancy Reagan, devoted wife and trusted confidant of late president Ronald Reagan, died Sunday at age 94 at her home in Los Angeles, a spokeswoman said.

“The cause of death was congestive heart failure,” said Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman for the former first lady. She will be buried next to her husband at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, Drake said.

A former actress who brought Hollywood glamour to the White House, Nancy Reagan was her husband’s highly influential — and feared — protector during his 1981-1989 presidency, a role she took on with fervor after a gunman tried to kill him in 1981.

She made her own mark with her signature “Just Say No” drug awareness campaign, launched in 1982.
